We have uncovered some information from the Coal Authority that shows the extent of mining in CT1. We estimate there to be over 100 separate workings.
We are looking into this as a matter of urgency in terms of how it may support our arguments against the proposed development area being included in the Draft Plan from NULBC.
In July 2024 NULBC issued their final plan (Regulation 19 Plan) which outlines planning proposals for the Borough. Developments are still proposed for Red Street and the surrounding areas that will put significant strain on the village feel, the infrastructure, schools etc.
