Newcastle Under Lyme Borough Council have published a proposal to develop land in and around Red Street. The proposal sets out a plan for 788 homes on fields either side of Bells Hollow (Area Marked CT1). Please see the map below.
In addition, a further plan has been proposed for houses and units on the fields around the monument (Area TK30) and further developments in Talke:
In July 2024 NULBC issued their final plan (Regulation 19 Plan) which outlines planning proposals for the Borough. Developments are still proposed for Red Street and the surrounding areas that will put significant strain on the village feel, the infrastructure, schools etc.
We have uncovered some information from the Coal Authority that shows the extent of mining in CT1. We estimate there to be over 100 separate workings.
